Leverage Browser Caching in WordPress

Have you ever gone to Pingdom Tools and received a near zero score on “leveraging browser caching”? This is really an easy fix that you can implement on your own blog.

What is Browser Caching?

Every time a browser loads a webpage it has to download all the web files to properly display the page. This includes all the HTML, CSS, javascript and images.

Leveraging browser caching will help decrease your page load time. It stores some of the files locally in the user’s browser.

Remove Shrinking Header in Genesis Centric Pro

This is a hack but it worked for me. Just replace the code below with the code in /js/global.js. The only difference is that I remove the “shrink” class in line 7.

Editing the code below will remove the shrinking header on the Centric Pro theme.

Then, it’s just simple css:

I tried this and it works as well. It just removes the shrinking action completely.

Style the Genesis Author Box to Look Like Twitter Bio

I’ve worked with Genesis for almost two years now, and I think the two weakest styled parts of any Genesis Child Themes are the comments and the author box. The author box says a lot about you. Might as well make it look nice.

Today, I want to go over how you can style your Genesis Author Box to look like your Twitter Bio. Below is a screenshot of what the end product will be.
